Go find a hammer. Then find a camera. Pose the hammer in some interesting way, take a picture, post-process it to taste, and to conform to the rules posted above, and share it with us. It'll be fun.
So, what else? Things around the old homestead are down to a dull roar. Rusti, the new-to-us Jack Russell Terrier, is a very smart dog, and she's figuring out her place in the family, and what kinds of things are likely to be expected of her.
For her, eating is a social activity. So if we just put her bowl down and walk away, she ignores it, more or less. Somebody needs to watch her eat.
She's getting along well with Rocky, a nearly 4 year-old viszla who's been with us a year and a half now. They play together pretty well, with only a little jealousy and not wanting to share their toys. They both love to chase the laser pointer around the yard at night; Rusti will spin in circles trying to catch the dot of light.
Relations between Rusti and Silas, our cat, are still strained. Silas has been living in the attic since the first night Rusti was here and she chased him up the stairs. He comes down at night to eat, and we put a catbox in the attic for him. I miss my lap kitty. He also comes around at 4am to climb on top of us and purr. Or to do this:
Easter is coming up already. So I need to do our taxes this weekend, more or less. Then choir stuff both Monday and Tuesday, as much church as I could possibly want Weds-Sun. Another work week following Easter, and another weekend to clean up the details on the taxes. And then 2 successive weekends with choir things on the Saturdays (singing for the diocesan confirmation service, and then a rehearsal with a visiting choir we're doing a joint service with on 4/13).
I do hope I've had enough withheld this year; las year I ended up owing the feds a bundle, and some penalties. With the stock market going down this year, though, it's probably OK. There's no way to tell, though, in time to do the right thing (filing estimated taxes).
I'm having a few ideas of places to go with my nano. If I may say so, this one is somewhat better than the others, if only because it kinda sorta has a plot. Characters, I seem to be able to do. One reader picks fairly mercilessly on my "narrator's voice", which is very useful feedback.
In case nobody else links to it, courtesy of R343L: Surreal Art Update. There's some cool stuff there.
