So I got a new macro lens today, and have been having a fun time pointing it at various things.

Mundane objects hide all sorts of interesting details!

Here, for completeness' sake, I have included a photo taken by my pal MRB (who some of you got to meet in Boston) featuring myself and my new macro lens.
I promised a delicious twist - and here it is: My new macro lens was home-made for about $5 from a Pringles can, a pair of $1 magnifying lenses and tape, and attached to my Canon PowerShot A550 using a bit of clothes-hanger wire!

Finally, here is a shot of the makeshift macro apparatus before being inserted into the tube:

That first image of the lighter was actually taken this way, by manually aligning magnifying glasses!
